Tallow River Dispatch

 AUGUST 2004

CAPTAIN'S NOTES:

Wall now all you pilgrims and hivernauts, greeting from Tallow River!

A bunch of old trappers and ladies from Tallow River are just back from the College Rondy, all seemed to be having shining times, the younguns were shooting guns and playing games.  Older folks were throwing hawks and going to classes as well as teaching them.  Our own Rick & Donna Davis, Nancy Dawdy, Mike Shaver and Linda Paulsen all taught classes.  Debra Pollack ran the hawk range.  Jim Fox was the Booshway and Jess and Linda Paulsen ran the registration desk.  (Jess Paulsen will be the Segundo for next years College Rondy).

You all know by now about the insurance issue with the range, John Callor, our range officer, has been in contact with the company we used a couple years ago and hopefully we will have the range re-opened by Trappers Days.

I have a scout prepared to do his Eagle project that will benefit the Society and Tallow River, his name is Jeremy Fairchild and we wish him well.

If you wish to be in the parade this year please let John Callor Know and he will put you on the list.

I almost forgot, two of our hardy (fool) mountain men went on an overnight trek during the College Rondy. Jerry Clower and Mike Mount.  We took them near the top of Kenosha pass and they made their way back to the rendezvous with many stories to tell, wild animals, violent storms, hostile Indians, etc.

Well, got to get back to skinning out varmint hides, see you at Trappers Rondy.

Keep yer powder dry and yer fires small,

Otto Ota Captain
