Tallow River Dispatch
MARCH2005CAPTAIN'S NOTES: Howdy Pards,
Well we had ourselves another GREAT! Frozen Toes" Rendezvous! I think we had the best turn-out ever. Thanks goes out to: Mike Mount our Booshway, Dave & Bunny, No-Powder and Fallen Buffalo for the auction, and all you skinners who donated items, thanks also to Jim Riemer for the good-looking medallions. We had about a dozen camps set up for 'Chautauquas scout training for scouts and leaders, there were about 500 in attendance, I would personally thank all the 'Skinners' who volunteered there time and effort for this activity, this encampment is always the highlight of the training, as told to me by Cory McKee a scout official. Till next time, Keep yer fires small and watch yer top knot! Waugh! Bear Claw Captain BOOSHWAY REPORT, FROZEN TOES 2005 Well now they want me to writ a report! One of them things they dont tell ya about when ya sign on. So here goes.
Frozen Toes 2005 was a great success, despite the inexperience of the Booshway! There were 58 camps! It was great to see all the folks come out and brave our February (56 degrees) weather. There was much socializing going on throughout the days and evenings. No Powders Friday evening camp stew was another great kickoff to a wonderful Rendezvous. Thank you No Powder. Many wonderful goodies were brought to the table and enjoyed by all. Saturday was filled with lots of shoppin, shootin, and hawk throwin. There were even a few mountain men over at the range throwin arrows around. After watchin em shoot awhile I imagined they were all thankful for potluck dinners. I'd like to give a big Thanks to my wife Christie Mount for her efforts in peddling all the leftover medallions. She managed to sell out all of our medallions and at the same time collect some great donations for our Fort Fund auction, which made us $399.00 for the Fort. Saturday evening we had our 6th annual Bent Spoon Chili Cook-off. Our judges were Nancy Dawdy, Lu Ann and cute Indian guy. The winners this year were Kurt Ballantyne for the Red Chili and Otto Ota for the Green Chili. They were awarded oil lamps made by Jim Riemer for their efforts. Following the Cook-off was a wonderful potluck dinner which included a 6 sub sandwich, donated by Jan Clower. I would like to thank everyone for letting me be your Booshway. I hope you all had as much fun as my family and I did.
