Although
it looks more like demolition, the Donelson House restoration has
begun. Some of the most important work has been in shoring up the
floor joists and attaching them to the foundation, which is not
visible in this photo.
The original siding had to be removed. Because most of
it was not salvageable, only a small section by the window has the
original siding. This was suggested by our Technical Advisor at the
State Historical Fund.
Our contractor is Fischer Construction, Inc. of
Longmont, CO.
New siding is being installed in this photo.

One interesting note is that the modern window upstairs was put in to
replace a door. No one familiar with the house has any recollection
that there was ever a balcony, stairway, or other outside feature that
the door would have led to.
The door was replaced; however, it will not be functional as a safety
measure
