Donelson House Teas

"Teas" are held periodically in the Donelson House.  These events are modeled after the English "Afternoon Tea."  Originally, the afternoon tea was a light meal taken between 3-5PM as an everyday event.  With changes in social customs and working hours "Afternoon Tea" is now served only for special or formal occasions.

For an Afternoon Tea, traditionally, loose tea is served in a teapot with milk and sugar.  This was accompanied by various sandwiches,  scones, cakes and pastry.  The food was often served in a tiered stand.

Donelson House Teas are a social events, lasting from one and one-half to two hours.  As with the traditional English Afternoon Tea, a light meal is served, generally consisting of finger sandwiches, scones, vegetable trays, and deserts.  No one has ever gone home hungry from a Donelson House Tea.  Teas are open to non-members and members alike.  Informal contemporary clothing is acceptable wear, although getting dressed up is part of the fun.  Don't forget your hat!

Reservations are required for Donelson House Teas.  A minimum number of 15 participants is required and due to space limitations in the Donelson house no more than 24 pariticipants can be accommodated.   Special teas may be arranged for private parties.

For reservations or more information about upcoming Teas contact Genevieve at 303-857-2756 or Jean at 303-451-6420.
