Glass Plate Negatives
These photographs were made from a collection of glass negatives that were sold at an estate auction after the death of Ben Counter of Fort Lupton. Glass negatives were produced during the photographic process known as wet plate photography invented in 1851. This process was the predominant photographic method until the late 1880's when flexible film photography began to dominate. Wet plate photography was still used as late as the earliest 1900's. South Platte Valley Historical Society is asking viewers for any information about the people and places. This will be a part of the Colorado Digitization Project. If you have any information or knowledge regarding any of the photographs in this collection please contact info@spvhs.org. Other photographs will be posted on this site later. Thank you for your help!
