Lancaster's Restoration Rendezvous

This rendezvous was started to help raise funds to support construction of the fort.  All funds raised during this event, including camping fees and auction go to the fort fund.

The Lancaster Restoration Rendezvous is always held over Memorial Day weekend.  As a patriotic gesture and way to show honor to our troops and veterans, U.S. Flags which have become worn and are no longer a fitting symbol of this country are retired at a central campfire ceremony.

Spring is a great time to be camping along the South Platte River.  Grass is long and green, and the trees and bushes have fully leafed out.  Daytime temperatures are warm, some say verging on hot, but after sunset, most folks still wear a light capote or blanket.  Often times there are as many as 70 camps including  traders and sutlers that participate.  Water and limited wood are available on site.  Campfires must be in above ground fire-pits.

This event is open to the public, however, after 6:00 PM everyone in camp must be in Pre-1840's dress.  Modern campsites are available outside of the rendezvous area.

The 2011 Lancaster Restoration Rendezvous will be held this year May 27-30.  An informational flyer is not yet available.  To see some of our favorite pictures and images from this event follow this link (no pictures yet).
