The Historic Post & Beam Barn

The South Platte Valley Historical Society has completed the building of a period style barn to complement the Donelson Farmhouse. This barn has been built in the style reminiscent of farm and ranch barns present in Weld County at the close of the 19th Century.  It was built using post and beam construction with traditional board and batten siding. The barn will be used to house the society's historic chuck wagon as well other historic carriages and vehicles donated to the society.  Below you will see the site plan, the barn's ground floor and loft layouts.
