The Historic Post & Beam Barn

The South Platte Valley Historical Society is undertaking the building of a period style barn to complement the Donelson Farmhouse. This barn will be built in the style reminiscent of farm and ranch barns present in Weld County at the close of the 19th Century.  It will be of post and beam construction with traditional board and batten siding.  Plans are to begin site preparation in 2019 with the full build of the barn being completed in 2020.  The barn will be used to house the society's historic chuck wagon as well other historic carriages and vehicles donated to the society.  Below you will see the site plan, the barn's ground floor and loft layouts.  Progress Photos, click here
